Ryan works on matters involving patent procurement, patent due diligence, intellectual property strategy, and portfolio development/management. Ryan draws on a combination of education and work experience that includes a Master’s degree and 10 years as a systems engineer and mechanical engineer with the U.S. Department of Defense. While designing ship systems and integrating new mechanical, electrical, and control system technologies into existing ship systems, Ryan led teams that took various designs from concept to production.
The diverse disciplines covered by his experience, and the problem-solving mentality required to get the job done, provide Ryan with tools to collaborate with others to obtain meaningful intellectual property. Ryan notes that communication is the most important component to ensuring that specific IP has real world value. “Establishing and maintaining communication with a client ensures that we understand the context and their needs,” says Ryan. “I work to further business interests by producing intellectual property assets that have value and align with client objectives.”
